Research Project

The aim of the project is to improve the contribution EEG analysis makes to the diagnosis and care of patients with brain diseases. The EEG provides an inexpensive way for objective diagnosis and evaluation of brain diseases, such as dementia and epilepsy, but changes in the EEG are not specific. The project is developing new indices, based on non-linear signal processing techniques such as chaos-based methods and independent component analysis, to allow early diagnosis dementia and monitoring of progression of the disease and hence response to treatment.
