Much of our work here involves encoding of medical knowledge and
its integration with advanced signal / information processing methods to
provide robust decision support tools to assist busy clinicians with patient
care. The underlying theme of our work is "smart medical systems design" and
this is underpinned by signal processing and computational intelligence
techniques.
Research topics

Obstetrics and Paediatrics - Electronic fetal monitoring,
analysis of ECG and heart rate patterns; knowledge-based analysis of umbilical
cord gas, assessment of outcome measures.
-
-
Knowledge modeling and complex data analysis - to understand the
attributes of underlying biological systems and causes of changes in data, and
to predict the behaviour of such systems
